9th September 2012
Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip
Wind Direction: S
Wind Stength: F2/3
Surf / Sea State: flat
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny and warm
Max Speed: 18.4 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 10.2 Nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Turned up at 2.00 even though forecast said wind at 4.00. Just couldn't take a chance and miss it. Chatted with the dip heads for an hour or more but the predicted F4 wind didn't materialise. Rigged 9.5 XR/ Phantom as the sea breeze came up and had a brilliant full on beat to Languard. Sussed the rigging of the Tushy XR now, and was getting good speed in the light airs by using minimal downhaul. Even on the minimal downhaul the XR showed very little horizontal creases as I sheeted in hard so previously I must have been killing the sail with at least 2 inches too much downhaul!
The outhaul adjuster is now working perfect, so seeing Squiz out in open sea cruising on a Mega cat, chased him down. Again on the run/broad reach the XR pull was powerful as I released the rope, easily enough power to get in the foot straps in 10kts.
Top cruising from the dip to languard and back. We set off again for another beat, and cranking in the outhaul changed gear and the board was up on the plate, and Squiz would have been hard pressed to stay with it. The wind freshened though and the short boards were planing so abandon the trip and switched to 8.7 H2/RRD Fireride and the bloody wind died. Why didn't I stay on the Phantom!
Several sailors at the dip was well P'd off, but although I always moan about lugging the beast Phantom to the beach, it’s really is a stunning board when link to the 9.5 Tushy XR. This Board and sail has to be the best longbd combo on the market...
Warm sunny day, loads of Joe public on the beach, wearing shorties in Sept has to be 4****
Wind forecast for all next week so game on….
